I can't believe I never knew this history before! What was done to the original inhabitants (Mexicans and Native Americans) of Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California is very upsetting and appalling. I now understand where this hatred of Latinos comes from in these states. It has been passed down from generation to generation. And to witness the hypocrisy towards "immigrants" today by the very same people whose ancestors where once "immigrants" and stole and killed for control of these areas from the Latinos and Native people who FIRST lived there. I wish more people knew about this history, but I am sure with most of the racist people it wouldn't matter in the least. sigh
